Jim Shearon (l), Jean O'Regan (r)On March 11, 2000, Jean O'Regan opened The Brian O'Regan Memorial Library housed within the Royal Canadian Legion Montgomery Branch (351) building, at 330 Kent Street in Ottawa, Ontario. The library belongs to the British Isles Family History Society of Greater Ottawa, of which Brian was a founding member and president.
Upon learning the serious nature of his illness, Brian had specifically directed the donation of over 2000 books on genealogy to the Society. BIFHSGO thereby was able to host the region's largest library of British Isles genealogical resources. The library was truly off to a great start.
The Library houses not only books and journals but genealogical artifacts like maps and charts, a computer with genealogical software and a number of Brian O'Regan momentos.
